1. Would (or do) you feel safe biking and/or using an e-scooter as a primary mode of transportation for short and medium-length trips in North Mankato?

Yes

1b. Why or why not?

North Mankato has a nice trail system that is bike and walker friendly

2. What do you think the city should do to improve safety and convenience of bicycling (and other micromobility) in North Mankato?

North Mankato has an active Transportation plan; I'm confident the city will continue to follow the plan.

3. Please provide ideas to improve connections to the trail systems for those neighborhoods that don’t have safe access to improve active transportation opportunities.

North Mankato has a nice trail system that is mapped out with signs and maps at bike stations located along the routes. I encourage the city to continue to work with MNDOT and safe route to school program to improve roadways to schools.

4. What do you think the city should do to promote and/or incentivize alternatives to driving, such as bikes, scooters, and walking, in North Mankato?

The city can promote the trail systems they currently have and share Community events from the Kato Bike Walk. An example of this would be the Kato Bike Fall Fest.

5. What do you think the city’s policy should be on shared scooters, bike-share, and other micromobility devices?

I have seen this in some of the larger cities. I would be interested in any feedback that they could give when deciding on a policy. I would like safety to be a priority.

6. Should the city consider adding traffic calming to motor vehicle cut-through traffic on residential streets that are often used as thoroughfares?

Yes

6b. If you answered yes to question #6, please provide some traffic calming suggestions.

The city currently has a calming area on Haughton Avenue. I would be interested in seeing what the citizens that live there and who complete the survey feel it is working. It would be nice to see it incorporated around schools.

7. Are you in favor of reducing the speed limit in residential areas to 20 mph, unless otherwise posted?

No

8. What can the city do to improve walkability, including wheelchair and other mobility devices, access through the winter, keeping sidewalks and paths clear of snow and ice?

City owned sidewalks are cleared of snow usually within 24 hours. They also accept calls from citizens that have concerns about areas kept clear, which i hope they continue that policy. The City Park Department has a protocol to have that snow removed.

9. How can the city work with local businesses to improve bike parking throughout North Mankato?

Bike racks would be an option. It could be considered when doing street rehabilitation.

10. What mode(s) of transportation do you use, and why?

walking and car, walking when close to my destination, car when it is further.

11. Would you support the city developing and facilitating an active transportation advisory committee?
