The Greater Mankato Bike and Walk Advocates (GMBWA) are dedicated to making our community safer and more accessible for people who walk and bike. Our grant program provides funding to local groups and organizations working on projects that promote active transportation, safety, and accessibility in the Greater Mankato area.
Whether you’re improving bike infrastructure, creating a new community program, or organizing an educational event, we want to support your efforts!
We welcome applications from:
Grants range from $500 to $2,000 per organization, with a total of $7,000 awarded annually.
We support initiatives that encourage biking and walking, including but not limited to:
🚲 Installing bike racks or repair stations
🚶♀️ Walking and biking education programs
🛑 Safety initiatives (e.g., reflective gear distribution, signage)
📢 Community events promoting active transportation
🌱 Infrastructure improvements (e.g., trail enhancements, accessibility projects)
